Lions Superfan Honored as NFL Fan of the Year

Detroit Lions superfan Megan Stefanski, named the team’s 2024 Fan of the Year, shares a moment with fellow enthusiast Chef Geech at a meet-and-greet with Calvin Johnson at The Shadow Gallery in Detroit’s Eastern Market.

Though Lions coach Dan Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff did not win at the NFL Honors this year, one Michigan resident triumphed, earning recognition for her devoted support of the Detroit Lions.

Megan Stefanski, a native of Goetzville, was awarded the NFL Fan of the Year for her steadfast dedication to the Lions.

Stefanski was named the Lions’ 2024 Fan of the Year, quickly becoming a well-known figure among the fanbase. Her schedule quickly filled up with events, from meet-and-greets to hosting tailgate parties with fellow Lions enthusiasts, including Chef Geech.

In December, Stefanski was surprised by her friends, family, and Lions mascot Roary, who revealed she would be attending Super Bowl LIX as a representative of the team.

What makes Stefanski’s passion so extraordinary is the distance she travels to Ford Field. A regular at Lions home games, she makes the 700-mile, 10-hour round trip from Goetzville to watch the team live.

Stefanski is also a member of Pro Football’s Ultimate Fan Association and the Tailgating Hall of Fame. She’s built a reputation for organizing weekly fan events and leading travel groups to away games.

The NFL’s website notes that Stefanski also hosts a charity event each summer at her family’s bar and grill, Yooperman’s, benefiting Hospice of the EUP. The event has become a fan favorite, with fellow Lions supporters showing strong attendance. Last year, the event raised $30,000 in just one weekend, following a $37,000 total the year before.
