If New York Jets supporters weren’t thrilled about their new head coach Aaron Glenn before, they ought to be even more enthusiastic now.
The Jets secured their player. Glenn was selected by the Jets, played his initial eight seasons in New York, and evidently desired this position more than anything. Since his appointment as the team’s new head coach, there has been almost nothing but positive feedback regarding the decision.
Glenn demonstrated a great deal of enthusiasm during his initial press conference with the New York media, and players have expressed their enthusiasm for the transition. The Jets acquired Glenn following his four-season tenure as the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions.
He contributed significantly to revamping that defense, and one of the Lions’ key defensive players, Aidan Hutchinson, had only positive things to say about Glenn on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“He’s truly amazing.” “Hutchinson said, ‘My relationship with AG has grown immensely during the three years I spent with him.’” “I sense that with AG, he was always aware of what to say at the perfect moment.” Every message, whether it was a victory or a defeat, he was accurate, and I believe there was never anything he expressed that made me think, ‘Ugh, perhaps you shouldn’t have said that.’ Occasionally, coaches express ideas and you think, ‘Hmm, I’m not sure that conveyed the right message.’ However, I sense that whenever he spoke, it was accurate. Thus, with him as a head coach, I believe he will excel in that role.
Hutchinson evidently knows Glenn well. He was chosen with the second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and has played alongside Glenn for the past three seasons. Hutchinson ranks among the elite young defensive talents in the sport today. He agreed to a four-year contract valued at more than $35 million with the Lions and will definitely earn significantly more when he eventually enters free agency. That won’t happen for at least two years, but perhaps when the time arrives, Glenn could contact him about visiting New York.
Fans of the Jets definitely have reasons to be thrilled.
