Last week, the Los Angeles Lakers stunned the NBA when they traded their star big man, Anthony Davis, in exchange for superstar guard Luka Doncic. Fans have been eagerly awaiting Doncic’s debut for Los Angeles, but it seems that it will be postponed.
Doncic was originally expected to play in the game against the Indiana Pacers this weekend, but now his debut will be delayed until next week. In the meantime, the Lakers will continue with their current roster until the new star takes the floor.
Following the trade deadline, Los Angeles has an available roster spot and is anticipated to be active in the buyout market. So, who could they target?
Here are the top three options for Los Angeles to strengthen their lineup for the playoff push.
3. Gary Harris
Given the need for another guard or wing-type player, Harris could be a solid fit. Orlando may be looking to move him, as he hasn’t been very productive this season.
The veteran is averaging just 3.8 points per game, but could provide a valuable presence off the bench.
2. Chris Boucher
Boucher would need to be bought out by the Raptors for this to be a possibility, but that could happen since he’ll be a free agent at season’s end.
If he does enter the market, the Lakers may face competition, particularly from the Denver Nuggets. However, Boucher could be a sneaky, effective addition to the Lakers’ frontcourt if they manage to sign him.
1. Josh Richardson
Richardson could be the ideal buyout target for the Lakers. After all the recent trades, the team is in need of depth in the backcourt, and Richardson could easily step into that role.
A reliable 3-point shooter, Richardson could provide solid minutes off the bench. The veteran guard was recently waived by the Utah Jazz, meaning he will be available if the Lakers wish to bring him in.
