USC Trojans Revamp Recruiting Approach, Per Commit – A Positive Shift
Once four-star cornerback Brandon Lockhart pledged his commitment to the USC Trojans, he quickly became an advocate for the program, consistently promoting it in a positive light. He has also played a key role in recruiting other prospects from his class to join him at USC.
On Saturday, he responded to a fan on X.com regarding USC’s efforts to recruit locally in California.
“I think they’re making a huge turnaround now. They’re bringing in guys from out of state, sure…But their push for Cali kids has significantly increased this spring. We need Talanoa to jump in with us!!”
USC Trojans Prioritize California Recruits
LAFB Network and the USC LAFB Show have been discussing this shift for a while, but hearing it directly from a committed player is a strong confirmation.
This message was also reiterated multiple times during Chad Bowden’s recent introductory press conference. He emphasized that California produces the best football players in the country, and USC is committed to keeping those players close to home.
Brandon Lockhart, ranked as the fifth-best cornerback nationally, currently plays at Loyola High School in Los Angeles.
Regarding Talanoa, he is likely referring to Talanoa Ili, a four-star linebacker from Orange Lutheran. Ili attended USC Junior Day alongside Lockhart, an event that reportedly went very well. Although 247 Sports currently projects him to commit to Oregon, that prediction could still change.
With USC’s revamped coaching staff, a renewed focus on prioritizing in-state recruiting, and dedicated ambassadors like Brandon Lockhart, the Trojans’ ability to retain top talent continues to strengthen.
