The Detroit Lions are heading into the 2025 season with a refreshed coaching staff and improvements to their defensive line, which was heavily impacted by injuries last year.

Anthony Bellino, host of Spin on Sports/WJR sports talk radio, joined the latest episode of Lone Wolves to recap the season and discuss how the team can take the next step forward in Dan Campbell’s fifth season as head coach.
“I’m watching the Super Bowl and trying to figure out what other teams are really excelling at,” Bellino said. “Philadelphia was great at running the ball. They kept pushing it with Saquon (Barkley)—he had, what, 25 carries for around 70 yards. It wasn’t like he was dominant. But they managed to connect on some big plays. They did some solid things on offense.”

“But for me, the MVP should’ve gone to the defensive line. They could’ve just handed the whole d-line the trophy and said, ‘Here you go. We’ll get you a few more for everyone to put in their living room.’ That’s what I want from our Detroit Lions,” Bellino added. “We always talk about complimentary football. Your defense needs to support your offense, your offense needs to support your special teams, and so on.”

The newest episode also delves into how running back Jahmyr Gibbs will have a larger role in the Lions’ offense, Detroit’s coaching staff changes, the team’s newfound reputation as a consistent winner, and how Myles Garrett would elevate the Lions’ defensive line.
