Andy Isaac, co-founder of the popular culture site Guyism, has been overwhelmed with support online after revealing that he has chosen to enter hospice care.
The well-known Detroit sports fan and blogger has been open about his battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma since 2006.
Isaac was never shy about voicing his opinions on local teams and quickly gained a loyal following due to his compassionate nature.
Many have shared how selfless Isaac was, often going out of his way to engage with people he barely knew, responding to personal requests to interact with friends or loved ones.
His passion for Detroit’s teams was widely recognized. In fact, this weekend, all of the city’s professional teams displayed “Faturday” on their jumbo screens, celebrating Isaac’s love for food and food culture, another signature of his.
Cass Anderson, co-founder of Guyism, recently reflected on Isaac’s influence, especially during the early days of Twitter.
“He was a pioneer in GIF creation and real-time sports clipping. He was the first person I knew who could get real-time clips on Twitter so quickly, and he helped people realize how Twitter could be used in that way while watching live sports,” Anderson shared, via Front Office Sports. “He had his own unique sense of humor, which everyone loved, and he was also great at helping to elevate female talent in the industry, as we’ve seen in the numerous testimonials on Twitter over the past 24 hours.”
