Kelly Stafford Teases Potential Trade of Husband Matthew by the Rams in the Offseason

Has Matthew Stafford played his last game as the quarterback of the Los Angeles Rams? According to his wife, Kelly, it’s a real possibility. On the latest episode of The Morning After podcast, the famous WAG-turned-podcaster hinted at the likelihood of a trade, saying she’s preparing for the possibility.

Stafford helped lead the Rams to an NFC West title and nearly led them to the NFC Championship Game, falling just short of upsetting the Philadelphia Eagles. However, Los Angeles recently informed star wide receiver Cooper Kupp that they would part ways in the offseason, and Stafford’s wife believes his future with the team could be in jeopardy as well.

“My husband, like, wants to win. He’s not trying to put a team in a bad spot. If you’re catching my drift, you’re catching my drift. I’m just a little confused by the trade of Cooper,” she said. “We were one play away from the NFC Championship, and I believe we win if we get there. I need to be the one pushing for respect for him. Yes, I love LA, but more than convenience, I value respect.”

She also mentioned that while staying in LA would be “convenient,” her priority is ensuring that her husband is respected more than anything else.

This isn’t the first time Kelly Stafford has sparked trouble for her husband. Prior to the 2023 season, she discussed how Matthew struggled to connect with younger teammates on her podcast. She later clarified her comments and explained that Matthew had to clear things up with his teammates to avoid any misunderstandings.

On the Bob Ryan & Jeff Goodman NBA Podcast, Bob Ryan and Gary Tanguay examine the Eastern Conference power rankings for the upcoming 2024-25 season. They discuss which teams could be overrated and which may surprise some. This podcast is sponsored by PrizePicks! We’re no experts, but it seems likely Matthew Stafford wouldn’t want his wife acting as his agent in the public eye. Who knows, though? Maybe that’s just how they operate. It’s certainly not making his situation any easier.
