A woman faced charges for fraud and additional financial offenses after the passing of Adan Manzano.
Adan Manzano, the sports journalist discovered deceased in his Louisiana hotel room shortly before the Super Bowl, had Xanax present in his system at the moment of his passing.
Referencing an initial toxicology report, Kenner, La., police Detective. Jeffrey Fitzmorris disclosed the information while giving testimony at a bond hearing for Danette Colbert, who faces charges of fraud and financial offenses, as reported by KCTV, WLOX, and the Times-Picayune.
Manzano, an employee of Telemundo Kansas City, was discovered deceased in his hotel room in Kenner on Wednesday, February 3. He was in the city to report on Super Bowl LIX taking place in New Orleans.
The day following his death, police apprehended Colbert, who faces accusations of utilizing Manzano’s credit cards. She faces accusations of fraud and other financial offenses, yet she has not been specifically charged concerning Manzano’s death. The sources indicate that her bond request has been rejected.
Fitzmorris stated that Manzano was not given a Xanax prescription before his death and mentioned it was uncertain when or how he took the medication, according to WLOX.
At a press conference, Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley stated that when Manzano’s body was located, it was found that his phone and credit card were absent. After examining security video, Conley states that Manzano was observed entering his room with Colbert at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, prior to her supposedly being seen exiting the room by herself later that morning.
When searching Colbert’s residence, Conley claims that authorities discovered Manzano’s phone and credit card. According to the police, Colbert was later apprehended in New Orleans.
Although Colbert had not been recognized by Kenner police before, Conley asserts that investigators in New Orleans were aware of her.
