INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce “was excited” to continue playing after the season concluded, general manager Brett Veach stated at the NFL combine on Tuesday.
“He has an additional year remaining on his contract,” Veach stated. “We concluded that he would return, and we’re looking forward to having him back.”
The 35-year-old Kelce was contemplating retirement or attempting another season. The four-time All-Pro repeatedly expressed his passion for football in the lead-up to the Super Bowl. He has established the foundation for a television career and co-hosts a podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce.
Coach Andy Reid mentioned that he had a conversation with Kelce regarding his future. “Leave the city and unwind. … I believe that’s what he’s up to,” Reid remarked.
