Jared Goff reached new quarterback levels with Ben Johnson serving as the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions. According to the new head coach Johnson of the Chicago Bears, another Lions standout was “throwing a better football” than Goff. He disclosed this information at the NFL Combine.

Johnson shot the crazy outcast at his old QB while featuring on NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk Thursday. The recently departed Lions offensive coordinator disclosed that Pro Bowl left tackle Penei Sewell was making precise throws.

Johnson launched an outrageous comment at his old quarterback during his appearance on NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk on Thursday. The recently departed Lions offensive coordinator disclosed that Pro Bowl left tackle Penei Sewell was making accurate throws.

“The greatest aspect of that was he delivered a perfect throw each and every time.” “He was superior to certain others,” Johnson remarked, mentioning Goff. “He was quite excellent at passing while on the run.”

It seems Johnson overlooked putting Sewell in special passing scenarios at quarterback. However, Johnson thought the 335-pound player delivered a more precise pass than Goff.

The Sewell disclosure may serve as one possible “bulletin board” motivation for Goff and the Lions. However, Johnson seems to have criticized Goff more.

Johnson stepped up to the podium at the NFL Combine, marking his inaugural combine as a head coach. He’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with another elite overall selection in Caleb Williams for the competing Bears.

Johnson is thrilled to have a mobile passer at his disposal. Goff is renowned for being a pocket passer who exploits defences. However, Johnson’s remarks led supporters to believe that the new Chicago coach was fostering the Bears/Lions rivalry going forward. “I’ve not really been around that since I’ve been in the league, so I get excited thinking about that (working with Williams),” Johnson remarked. However, other people believe that Johnson is making fun of his former quarterback in the Motor City. It goes without saying that Johnson’s remarks from the combine provide fresh drama to the first Chicago vs. Detroit matchup before the 2025 season.
