The Detroit Lions had a strong presence on the Pro Football Focus Top 101 players list, yet one highly significant name was absent from the collection.
PFF, a site dedicated to player evaluations, published a roster of its top 101 players from the 2024 season that includes nine players from the Detroit Lions. Nonetheless, quarterback Jared Goff was excluded from the list of players.
Goff became an MVP finalist in 2024 as he guided the Lions to a 15-2 record, securing a second-straight NFC North division championship. He passed for 4,629 yards and 37 touchdowns, placing second only to Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow for passing yards and fourth for passing touchdowns.
The experienced quarterback maintained the career revival that started after he was obtained through trade in 2021. Since the acquisition, he has guided the team to two division titles and a spot in the NFC Championship game of the 2023 season.
PFF’s list featured eight quarterbacks, comprising Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Jayden Daniels, Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, and Jalen Hurts.
The Lions featured on the list were safety Kerby Joseph (No. 19), offensive tackle Penei Sewell (No. 26), running back Jahmyr Gibbs (No. 36), center Frank Ragnow (No. 47), wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (No. 49), safety Brian Branch (No. 55), guard Kevin Zeitler (No. 60), linebacker Jack Campbell (No. 84), and defensive end Aidan Hutchinson (No. 86).
Four Lions received NFL First-Team All-Pro recognition, including Joseph, Sewell, St. Brown, and punter Jack Fox. Two additional players, Ragnow and wide receiver/punt returner Kalif Raymond, also received Second-Team All-Pro recognition.
