JJ Redick confirms that Jordan Goodwin will be part of the Lakers’ rotation going forward.
Following a series of strong performances, Jordan Goodwin appears to be a regular in the Lakers’ rotation from here on out.
The latest success story from the Lakers’ G League affiliate seems to have emerged midway through this season.
While Goodwin may not be the hidden gem the team has previously discovered after bouncing around the league, he has nevertheless found success in South Bay and is now contributing to the Lakers’ success.
Goodwin was signed by the Lakers as a two-way player near the trade deadline. He made an immediate impact and, though used sporadically, has been a positive presence almost every time he’s been called upon.
That includes Friday, when he helped spark the Lakers’ bench to a victory over the Clippers. After the game, head coach JJ Redick indicated that he expects Goodwin to be a regular part of the rotation going forward.
The twist is that Goodwin is sidelined with an injury for Sunday’s game, so he won’t be in the rotation. However, once he’s back, it’s clear that he’ll likely become a key fixture in it.
He fits the exact role the Lakers need. With several star players on the roster, the team requires role players to handle the less glamorous tasks, and Goodwin is more than willing to do just that.
But he’s also capable of more. He’s demonstrated an ability to contribute offensively, whether it’s making reads in pick-and-roll situations as a screener or hitting shots to space the floor.
If you’re seeking guards and wing players to complement Luka Dončić and LeBron James, Goodwin fits the bill. He’s thrived on the court and earned a spot in the rotation.
Once he recovers from his injury, it’ll be interesting to see how his game evolves with consistent playing time and whether his production continues to grow.
