The Kansas City Chiefs are among the teams that will have to make crucial choices about their roster as free agency approaches. Nonetheless, one of their key players may not rejoin the team for another season and could enter the open market.

Nate Taylor, a writer for The Athletic covering the Kansas City Chiefs, reported that the team is unlikely to bring back safety Justin Reid.

Supporters turned to social media to challenge the Kansas City Chiefs’ choice to not keep him on the roster.

“The level of disrespect for Justin Reid is outrageous, players with his intelligence, drive, and leadership are hard to find. Spags defense will be poorer without him, and we are going to miss him.” One person commented on social media

As per Spotrac, Justin Reid is expected to ink a three-year deal worth $46.5 million. The average annual value of $15.5 million ranks second among all safeties. Reid performed admirably last season, recording 87 total tackles, two interceptions, 3.5 run stuffs, and nine pass deflections.

Where would be the ideal place for Justin Reid this offseason?

If the Chiefs fail to re-sign Justin Reid, multiple teams will express interest in the two-time Super Bowl Champion. A team that greatly requires assistance at safety and has been freeing up cap space this offseason is the New York Jets.

The new team, led by coach Aaron Glenn, focuses on a defensive strategy and clearly requires additional safety support since Chuck Clark, Jalen Mills, and Ashtyn Davis will all be unrestricted free agents this offseason.

Following the team’s official release of wide receiver Davante Adams, which saved them $29.9 million, this is an area where they can allocate those funds. The Jets’ secondary requires assistance with numerous free agents, so bringing in Justin Reid would be an excellent first step.
