Ex-Lions Playmaker Said to Be on Jets’ Radar

The New York Jets have made several reported transactions in free agency thus far, but there is still much more to accomplish.

New York has its top receiver in Garrett Wilson ready to go. He ranks among the elite receivers in football, and it is said that he will be rejoining his college quarterback, Justin Fields, in 2025. The Jets possessed Davante Adams but allowed him to leave. Adams will be joining the Los Angeles Rams in 2025.

Who might act alongside Wilson in 2025? SNY’s Connor Hughes noted that Detroit Lions star Tim Patrick is a player to “watch closely.”

“Hughes stated that they still have certain gaps that they definitely need to address.” “Opposite Garrett Wilson, the receiver doesn’t appear to be in great shape.” “I would watch Tim Patrick closely there.”

In 2024, Patrick and Aaron Glenn were members of the Lions organization. Patrick played in 16 matches with Detroit and was a valuable part of the offense. He recorded 33 catches, totaled 394 receiving yards, and scored three touchdowns. He was absent for the 2022 and 2023 seasons but recorded consecutive years with more than 700 receiving yards in 2020 and 2021.

He could be a surprisingly effective choice for the Jets’ offense. His price might be low with fewer than 400 receiving yards, but now that he’s another year post-injury, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him return to the form he showcased in 2021. This is a fairly strong concept, yet additional effort would be required.
