The Chicago Bears have engaged in both the free-agent and trade markets this offseason, and standout wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions is not happy about it.
“I get the feeling that the Bears have unlimited f—ing money.” “This is insane,” St. Brown remarked about Chicago’s spending spree during the latest episode of “The St. Brown Show” podcast
“They’re simply parting ways with everyone. … Ben’s [Ben Johnson] making decisions everywhere.”
In trade news, the Bears have obtained two-time All-Pro guard Joe Thuney from the Kansas City Chiefs along with guard Jonah Jackson from the Los Angeles Rams. Regarding signings, they have allegedly secured defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo (three-year, $48 million contract), defensive tackle Grady Jarrett (three-year, $43.5 million contract), and center Drew Dalman (three-year, $42 million contract).
Certainly, St. Brown takes the Bears’ improvement personally. Initially, the Lions and Bears are historic adversaries within the same division. Additionally, the new head coach of Chicago, Ben Johnson, previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Lions. Finally, St. Brown’s podcast co-host is his older brother Equanimeous St. Brown, who used to be a receiver for the Bears.
Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is a two-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler, recorded 115 catches for 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns in the previous season. He has achieved over 100 receptions and more than 1,100 receiving yards in each of the last three seasons, along with double-digit touchdowns in each of the last two seasons.
Detroit won all of its matchups against Chicago, subsequently securing the NFC North title and the top seed in the NFC with a record of 15-2. The Lions subsequently fell to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round. The Bears finished with a record of 5-12, highlighted by a streak of 10 consecutive losses.
