Thunder Deliver 4-Word Message After Securing Playoff Spot
The Oklahoma City Thunder entered Wednesday night’s highly anticipated showdown against the Boston Celtics aiming to secure a postseason berth.
That goal became a reality as their 118-112 win made them the first Western Conference team and the second NBA team this season to clinch a playoff spot.
Last week, the Cleveland Cavaliers became the first team to punch their ticket to the postseason.
Following the win, the Thunder shared a four-word message on social media to celebrate the milestone.
“Nothing given, everything earned,” Oklahoma City posted on X after Wednesday’s victory.
The team also highlighted that this marks their 12th playoff appearance since 2010, ranking second among all NBA teams.
The Thunder’s statement holds true, as they have earned every bit of their success this season.
Oklahoma City has dominated the competition, currently leading the Western Conference with a 54-12 record while maintaining a 12-game advantage over the second-place Memphis Grizzlies.
While MVP frontrunner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has spearheaded their success, the rest of the roster has also stepped up in a big way.
Jalen Williams has made great strides, thriving as the team’s second option and earning his first All-Star nod.
Despite missing significant time due to injury, Chet Holmgren has contributed effectively, while offseason acquisitions Isaiah Hartenstein and Alex Caruso have played key roles.
Now that their playoff spot is secured, the Thunder will shift their focus to locking up the top seed in the West for the second straight year as they pursue a championship with home-court advantage.
