Two days, two appointments, no agreements.
Experienced quarterback Russell Wilson, now a free agent for the first time in his career, visited Cleveland on Thursday and New York on Friday. He did not sign with either team.
The Giants seem to be biding their time to observe Aaron Rodgers’ actions. When he contacted the Giants in the week of the Scouting Combine, he had no other activities planned. Currently, he does; the Steelers are said to have made a proposal, and the Vikings are still hovering.
For Wilson, it seems to be (for now) the Browns, the Giants, the Steelers, or nada. The Steelers may have already moved forward. He doesn’t have any additional appointments arranged.
The other concern will be finances. What is Wilson’s desired amount? What will a prospective team bid?
If Wilson doesn’t have a defined starting role in 2025, the issue arises of whether he’d agree to be a backup or choose not to play at all. He could also wait to determine if a starter experiences a season-ending injury.
