Detroit Lions Seen as Ideal Destination for $21 Million Bills Free Agent

The Detroit Lions have been active in strengthening their cornerback group this offseason.

Within just weeks of free agency opening, they have already brought in three experienced players.

Their first move was signing D.J. Reed to replace Carlton Davis as their top cornerback.

Next, they added former 49ers corner Rock Ya-Sin to bolster their depth.

They then brought in Avonte Maddox, who will contribute in the slot rotation.

I n an article highlighting the best destinations for remaining free agents, Knox identified the Lions as a strong match for former Buffalo Bills cornerback Rasul Douglas.

Douglas would be a higher-profile addition than their last two signings but comes with significant concerns.

His 2024 campaign was the worst of his career. Over 15 games with Buffalo, he allowed quarterbacks to complete 72.9% of passes thrown his way.

Those quarterbacks also posted a 122.0 passer rating when targeting him.

His struggles were unexpected after he ended the 2023 season on a high note. In nine games with Buffalo that year, he held opposing quarterbacks to a 51.3% completion rate and just 5.9 yards per target.

If Detroit believes he can return to that form, they might consider adding him to compete for a role. However, with their cornerback room now crowded, taking that risk seems unlikely.
