The Detroit Lions are maintaining one of their most enduring partnerships securely intact.

On Friday, the team revealed that Ford Field will continue to be the official name of their home stadium until the 2036 season, owing to a renewed agreement with Ford Motor Company.

Detroit Lions’ Enduring Dedication to Ford

“Reestablishing our partnership with Ford Motor Company has consistently been a key focus for us,” stated Detroit Lions President and CEO Rod Wood. “Ford played a critical role in our return to downtown Detroit in 2002 and remains essential to the expansion of our brand.” We take pride in having the name of a legendary, Detroit-based company on our building for the long term.

“Ford and the Lions make ideal partners – two legendary organizations that are both profoundly connected to Detroit,” stated Jim Farley, CEO and president of Ford. “Since Bill Ford led the initiative to bring Ford Field to downtown, this stadium has contributed to Detroit’s revival and hosted numerous major events in sports and entertainment.” Similar to our hometown, our Ford and Lions teams exemplify determination and perseverance. Therefore, we couldn’t be more proud to see the Lions and their supporters continue to refer to their home as ‘Ford Field.’

Since 2002, Ford Field has been the home of the Lions, establishing itself as a cornerstone of downtown Detroit’s sports and entertainment landscape.
