Stafford’s New Deal Remains Unsigned

Over a month ago, the Rams and quarterback Matthew Stafford reached an agreement on a new 2025 contract.

However, the deal has yet to be signed.

“We sent it to [agent] Jimmy Sexton this week, so I think it’s just semantics,” coach Sean McVay said on PFT Live Monday. “I’m not sure if they’ve officially signed it or not. But unless he changes his mind, it’s — semantically, it’s done.”

McVay noted that once finalized, the contract will reflect the mutual compromise between both parties.

“It’s going to showcase Matthew Stafford’s selflessness and our effort to find common ground,” McVay explained. “We had tough discussions, but we reached a point where we said, ‘We love you. We want you here. This is how we can build a strong team around you while showing our appreciation.’ He made sacrifices to stay with us, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.”

As of now, Stafford is set to earn $27 million in 2025, a figure that will remain unchanged until the new contract is officially signed.
