Last week, we listened to Amon-Ra St. Brown, wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, respond to Ben Johnson accepting the head coaching position with the Chicago Bears. This week on his podcast, St. Brown addressed the departure of receivers coach Antwaan Randle El, who followed Johnson to the Bears to take on the role of their receivers coach and assistant head coach. It turns out that St. Brown has an incredible story regarding how he discovered it.<\/p>\n

St. Brown was casually reflecting on his coaching staff when it struck him that Randle El hailed from Chicago. He reached out to a group chat he was in with all the Lions receivers and Randle El.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“I messaged the group chat, asking, \u2018El, aren\u2019t you from Chicago?\u2019” St. Brown remembered. “I transmitted that.” Following one. \u2018Are you tracking Ben?\u2019 I actually sent that at 6:17 p.m. A couple of minutes later, he calls me. \u2018What the hell?\u2019 I respond.<\/p>\n

He remarked, \u2018What\u2019s going on, dude.\u2019 He says, \u2018Hey dude. How did you find out? “Did that information get out?” I replied, \u201cNo, I was just joking.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Indeed, it appears St. Brown accidentally discovered that his position coach was departing for a promotion with the Bears while playfully teasing him.<\/p>\n
That being said, St. Brown expressed that he was pleased for Randle El, and his choice is very reasonable.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“I understand,” St. Brown remarked. “He’s also from Chicago.” Therefore, it\u2019s an advancement; he becomes the receivers coach, understands the offense, and is familiar with Ben. It simply seems logical for him. I’m not angry. I\u2019m not bothered by it. I feel glad for him. “It\u2019s quite amusing how everything unfolded.”<\/p>\n

Currently, it remains uncertain who will fill Randle El\u2019s position as the receivers coach for the team. Nonetheless, Seth Ryan was the team’s assistant wide receivers coach last year, and the new offensive coordinator John Morton has extensive experience coaching wide receivers.<\/p>\n
