Manchester City are ready to approve the departure of young midfielder Jacob Wright.<\/p>\n
Jacob Wright, who played for City in the Carabao Cup, is set to leave the club in a permanent transfer. The 19-year-old is nearing a move to Swansea City.<\/p>\n
Wright has traveled to South Wales as negotiations progress for his move away from the Etihad. If finalized, the deal will initially be a loan for the remainder of the season, with Swansea having an obligation to sign him permanently in the summer, provided they avoid relegation.<\/p>\n
Currently, they sit seven points clear of the relegation zone after 30 of 46 matches, following a tough season that saw manager Michael Duff dismissed in December.<\/p>\n
The permanent transfer is expected to be worth around \u00a34million, with Swansea looking to bolster their squad after allowing Matt Grimes to join Coventry City. Middlesbrough had also been linked with Wright.<\/p>\n
Wright has made four senior appearances for Pep Guardiola\u2019s team and was part of their pre-season tour in the USA last summer. Though he\u2019s been involved with the first team, he hasn\u2019t been able to secure a regular spot in the squad. Moving to Swansea will provide him with more chances for first-team action.<\/p>\n
This departure marks another instance of City selling their academy players, following the exits of Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Liam Delap, and Tommy Doyle over the past year.<\/p>\n
Wright has been with City since he was eight years old, working his way up through the ranks. He made his debut for the first team in last season\u2019s FA Cup victory over Huddersfield and also appeared in the Champions League win over FC Copenhagen.<\/p>\n
