Green Bay’s all-time leading scorer is retiring.<\/p>\n
Mason Crosby, the former Packers kicker, announced his retirement after 17 seasons in the NFL on Tuesday. Crosby, 40, did not play this season but kicked for Green Bay from 2007 to 2022, scoring a franchise-record 1,918 points\u2014864 more than any other player in the team’s history.<\/p>\n
Crosby shared his decision on social media and during “The Mason Crosby Show” on Milwaukee\u2019s 105.7 The Fan. “I\u2019m just so, so thankful, so grateful for the opportunity to come to Green Bay in 2007, drafted in the sixth round out of the University of Colorado, to become a Packer and to be a part of this fraternity and legacy, the history of the Green Bay Packers,\u201d Crosby said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about the fans. It\u2019s about the people. It\u2019s about my teammates. For me, I was always a \u2018we\u2019 guy. We\u2019re doing this. We\u2019re dominating and winning the NFC North nine times while I was a Green Bay Packer for 16 years, making the playoffs, winning the Super Bowl as a team. For me, everything I remember and everything I think about is about the team.\u201d<\/p>\n
Over his career, Crosby made 81.3% of his field goal attempts and 97.2% of his extra points. He played in 258 consecutive regular season games.<\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly, I haven\u2019t really looked at it, reflected on it too often, but whenever I really look back, that\u2019s something I\u2019m the most proud of if I think of individual accolades,\u201d Crosby said.<\/p>\n
In 2023, the Packers chose not to re-sign Crosby, their sixth-round draft pick. Instead, they drafted Anders Carlson in the same round that year. Crosby played three games for the New York Giants in 2023, converting 5 of 7 field goal attempts.<\/p>\n
