Earlier this week, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers made history by becoming the oldest player in NBA history to score over 40 points in a game, surpassing Michael Jordan\u2019s record from 2003.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat do I think? That I\u2019m old,\u201d James said to reporters after scoring 42 points on 14-of-25 shooting. \u201cThat\u2019s what I think. I need a glass of wine and some sleep, that\u2019s the first thing I think about.\u201d<\/p>\n
James was 34 days older than Jordan when he scored 43 points for the Washington Wizards in February 2003.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe most important thing is that we got the win, obviously,\u201d James said after surpassing Jordan. \u201cBut anytime I\u2019m mentioned alongside the greats, it\u2019s always humbling. Just knowing where I come from and my love for the game, it\u2019s really special.\u201d<\/p>\n
While James celebrates his latest milestone, it might have come at a cost. On Friday, the Lakers listed the future Hall of Famer as \u201cdoubtful\u201d for today\u2019s game against the Indiana Pacers.<\/p>\n
“LeBron James has been downgraded to doubtful for the Lakers’ game Saturday vs. Indiana due to left ankle soreness, the Lakers announced,” ESPN\u2019s Davis McMenamin reported.<\/p>\n
This news comes after ESPN adjusted its broadcast schedule to shift the Lakers-Pacers game to a prime-time slot, expecting Luka Doncic to debut for the Lakers today. However, Doncic is now “targeting” Monday\u2019s game against the Utah Jazz for his debut, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.<\/p>\n
It seems that neither Doncic nor James will be playing in today\u2019s game, despite ESPN\u2019s efforts to highlight the matchup.<\/p>\n
