That possibility seems to be growing stronger as we approach the start of the new league year.<\/p>\n
What would the Giants be willing to pay? They’re aiming high.<\/p>\n
Stafford had a productive season with the Los Angeles Rams, passing for 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, helping lead Los Angeles to an unexpected postseason run.<\/p>\n
While some fans believe the Rams should keep their core intact, the team has already revealed plans to trade Cooper Kupp.<\/p>\n
The Rams may also be growing weary of paying Stafford\u2019s hefty contract.<\/p>\n
Sports Illustrated recently claimed that the Giants have a roster capable of supporting Stafford, which is a questionable statement.<\/p>\n
Fox Sports\u2019 Colin Cowherd suggests that the Rams would expect the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft for the veteran quarterback.<\/p>\n
That feels like a steep price, and it seems Giants GM Joe Schoen is working to make that clear\u2026<\/p>\n
By enlisting ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter to deliver the message.<\/p>\n
Schefter has firmly reported that the No. 3 pick won\u2019t be involved in any potential trade between the Giants and Rams.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me make it very clear: That pick is not part of the conversation if Matthew Stafford and the Rams can\u2019t work out a deal, and if Stafford becomes available and the Giants emerge as a contender,\u201d Schefter stated.<\/p>\n
Got it, Adam. The Giants had you send out their message. Understood.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf all these things happen \u2013 and they might \u2013 if all these things happen,\u201d Schefter continued, nervously adding a curse word for emphasis.<\/p>\n
Stafford\u2019s compensation and his cap hit of $49.6 million for the 2025 season raise concerns. Both teams would need to work out those details.<\/p>\n
