Doncic will continue to be on a minutes restriction when the Lakers resume their season, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.<\/p>\n
“The Lakers have kept Doncic below 25 minutes in his first two games with the team and plan to maintain this cautious approach as the 25-year-old returns from missing his final 19 games with the Mavericks due to a left calf strain suffered on Christmas Day,” Stein reported.<\/p>\n
Doncic is also expected to sit out one game of the Lakers\u2019 upcoming back-to-back series.<\/p>\n
“The Lakers face an immediate back-to-back against Charlotte (home) and Portland (away) on Wednesday and Thursday,” Stein added. “It\u2019s believed Doncic will play in just one of these games before traveling to Denver on Saturday to face his close friend Nikola Joki\u0107, and the Lakers will then host the Mavericks the following Tuesday.”<\/p>\n
In his Lakers debut against the Utah Jazz, Doncic scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded four assists, helping the Lakers win 132-113. He followed up with 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, one block, and one steal in a 131-119 loss to the Jazz.<\/p>\n
