Detroit Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson recently shared his thoughts on the possibility of teaming up with Myles Garrett in the future while discussing it on \u201cThe Squeeze\u201d podcast, hosted by Lions superfan Taylor Lautner and his wife, Tay. Hutchinson recalled a conversation with Garrett and Lions quarterback Jared Goff during the NFL Honors event in New Orleans a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf Myles and I were to pair up, that would be deadly,\u201d Hutchinson said. \u201cWe were talking at the Honors about what could happen. It\u2019s probably unlikely, but I would be thrilled to play beside him if it were to occur. Our entire D-line would be elevated, and we\u2019d have a really scary defense.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe get along well. I\u2019ve seen him at various events over the past few years. He even texted me after I got injured, which was a nice gesture. It\u2019s cool when guys from other teams reach out. He\u2019s a great guy. If he comes here, awesome, but we\u2019ll see. That would be amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, Garrett made headlines by requesting a trade from the Cleveland Browns, citing a \u201cdesire to win\u201d as a major factor in his decision. The Browns, however, reaffirmed their stance on keeping the six-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro.<\/p>\n
Despite that, Hutchinson, the Lions fan base, and even some teammates are left wondering, \u201cWhat if?\u201d Shortly after Garrett\u2019s trade request went public, Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown discussed the potential impact of adding Garrett to the defensive line.<\/p>\n
\u201cHim and Aidan (Hutchinson), Alim (McNeill), D.J. (Reader), and the rest of the D-line? That would be insane!\u201d St. Brown said with enthusiasm. \u201cWith a nasty D-line, you don\u2019t need anything else. Just let them play.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since entering the league in 2017, Garrett \u2014 the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year \u2014 has averaged at least 12.8 sacks per season and has never recorded fewer than 10 sacks in any season since his rookie year.
