\u201cI\u2019m being honest here. I don\u2019t think Anthony Davis should ever play for the Mavericks again. He shouldn\u2019t play the rest of the season, and they should trade him this summer,\u201d Bontemps said.<\/p>\n
\u201cNico Harrison spoke about having a three- or four-year window with this group, which included this season. But Kyrie Irving will be 33 and just suffered a major knee injury, with a player option for next year. You basically have to assume he won\u2019t be a key contributor next season.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe he can come back and do that, but as someone running the team, you have to assume he won\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAt that point, Anthony Davis will have just one guaranteed year left on his contract and be approaching his 33rd birthday. This team has no chance of contending without a real star alongside Davis.\u201d<\/p>\n
