Emmanuel Acho Explains Why Zack Baun’s Eagles Deal Is a Win-Win<\/strong><\/p>\n

When the Philadelphia Eagles announced a new three-year, $51 million contract for Zack Baun, the reaction across the city was overwhelmingly positive.<\/p>\n

After years of overlooking the position, Howie Roseman signed both a running back and a linebacker on consecutive days following All-Pro seasons. Fans embraced the moves, eagerly anticipating a strong push to retain the Super Bowl title.<\/p>\n

FOX Sports analyst and former Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho took to social media to break down the decision, highlighting why he sees the deal as a true win-win for both sides.<\/p>\n

“Zack Baun finally got paid; let’s discuss it. This is a great deal for both parties. Baun benefits tremendously, jumping from a $1.5 million salary to $51 million, with $34 million guaranteed. That\u2019s why it\u2019s also great for the Eagles\u2014it\u2019s essentially a two-year, $34 million commitment. Looking at linebacker salaries, Baun now ranks fourth in average annual value at $17 million per year, trailing only Roquan Smith, Fred Warner, and Tremaine Edmunds. The Eagles got a bargain since they’re only guaranteeing $34 million; for comparison, Edmunds received $50 million guaranteed, Roquan Smith got $60 million, and Fred Warner\u2019s deal guaranteed $40 million,” Acho explained.<\/p>\n

“This deal works well for the Eagles because they\u2019re really asking Baun for just two more strong seasons. It\u2019s an incredible opportunity for Baun, too\u2014going from a special teams linebacker making $1.5 million to securing a $51 million deal. It’s a huge win for both sides, especially considering Baun just delivered one of the best linebacker performances in 15 years. I\u2019d say the best since Luke Kuechly won Defensive Player of the Year back in 2013. Props to Baun\u2014keep ballin’.”<\/p>\n

On paper, committing $51 million to Baun after only 1,000 snaps at his new position may seem risky. He wouldn’t be the first player to flame out after one breakout year\u2014just ask Jason Babin. However, the reality is that Baun is only locked in for $34 million over two years, averaging $17 million annually. If he maintains his 2024 level of play through 2025, chances are he\u2019ll land another deal before that third season arrives\u2014similar to how Saquon Barkley secured his extension ahead of time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
