Former WVU football star and NFL veteran opens up about drug testing.<\/p>\n
Adam “Pacman” Jones, former West Virginia football defensive back and NFL player, has been open about his use of cannabis before football games.<\/p>\n
During a recent appearance on Deion Sanders’ weekly Tubi show “We Got Time Today,” Jones discussed his past cannabis use during his NFL career.<\/p>\n
“I cheated the program,” Jones admitted. “I was really good. People don\u2019t realize how smart I am, but I can say it now since I\u2019m retired. I’ve never used my (urine) for a (urine) test. Not even once.”<\/p>\n
Jones also disagreed with Sanders\u2019 view that the NFL’s substance abuse policy is stricter today, claiming that fake tests are still possible, while Sanders believed they weren\u2019t. Sanders\u2019 co-host wanted Jones to explain how he could get away with it in today\u2019s world, but Deion cut the conversation short before it went further.<\/p>\n
Jones played for WVU from 2002 to 2004, and was the sixth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. He went on to play for four NFL teams over 13 seasons before retiring in 2018.<\/p>\n
In 2007, Jones was suspended for the entire season under the NFL\u2019s substance abuse policy following multiple legal issues, leading the NFL to impose stricter testing policies on players, even during the offseason.<\/p>\n
Since then, the NFL has relaxed its cannabis policies after player pushback about its use in injury recovery. In 2024, the NCAA also removed cannabis from its banned substance list for college football.<\/p>\n
Jones continues to support cannabis, stating, “I’m all for the weed.”<\/p>\n
