For the second time in his college career, former Duke basketball player TJ Power is seeking a new team. When Power committed to Duke in the fall of 2022, he was viewed as an exciting addition to another stellar recruiting class led by head coach Jon Scheyer and his talented staff. However, after a single season at Duke, Power became one of seven scholarship players to transfer out of the program last spring.<\/p>\n
The former top-20 recruit chose to remain within the ACC, transferring to Virginia for the 2024-25 season.<\/p>\n
But after another year in which Power struggled to secure consistent playing time, the 20-year-old forward has decided once again to enter the transfer portal, searching for a fresh opportunity for his third college season.<\/p>\n
On the day the portal opened, On3’s Joe Tipton reported that the 6-foot-9, 216-pound sophomore had re-entered his name for the second consecutive year.<\/p>\n
Power played in 24 games for the Cavaliers, averaging just 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds in 9.3 minutes per game. He started the first five games of the season but gradually lost his spot in the rotation.<\/p>\n
During his freshman year at Duke, Power appeared in 26 games as a reserve, averaging 2.1 points and 0.7 rebounds in 6.7 minutes per game, while shooting 35.7 percent from three-point range.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Power\u2019s former classmate Caleb Foster and the No. 1 seed Duke team are preparing for their NCAA Tournament East Regional semifinal against the No. 4 seed Arizona Wildcats at 9:39 p.m. ET on Thursday (CBS).<\/p>\n
