Dan Campbell Shares Funny Response to Question About Alex Anzalone’s Availability

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell, known for his straightforward style, showcased his humor when discussing linebacker Alex

Anzalone’s potential return for Sunday night’s pivotal game against the Minnesota Vikings.

During an interview on 97.1 The Ticket with Jim Costa and Jon Jansen, Campbell was asked about the challenges Anzalone faced in his bid to play. His response was quintessential Campbell humor:

“He’s got to be able to do a handstand,” Campbell joked.

“Then he needs to manage a handstand press-up and finally attempt a jumping jack—on his hands!”

The over-the-top response provided a much-needed moment of levity amid the intensity of Week 18 preparations.

However, as is often the case with Campbell, his playful comments weren’t entirely off-base.

Anzalone, recovering from a forearm injury, is making progress, but the Lions will ensure he’s fully ready before putting him back on the field.

Anzalone, a key player in Detroit’s defense before his injury, is undoubtedly crucial for the Lions as they aim for the NFC North title and the top playoff seed.

While his return likely requires more than handstands and jumping jacks, Campbell’s light-hearted take reflects his unique leadership style and ability to keep the team motivated.

Regardless of the theatrics, the Lions remain hopeful Anzalone can contribute to their biggest game of the season.

If he returns, it will be another example of the team’s resilience under Campbell’s guidance.
