Lions All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown strongly supports the team’s decision to hire ex-Stanford head coach David Shaw as Detroit’s new passing game coordinator. The St. Brown family, which includes Amon-Ra, shares a lengthy history with Shaw.

“I’ve been acquainted with Shaw since our high school days,” St. Brown told his brother, Equanimeous, in the newest episode of their podcast. Shaw brought all three St. Brown brothers—Amon-Ra, Equanimeous, and Osiris—to play for him at Stanford. Osiris eventually teamed up with Shaw and the Cardinal.

“I always believed he was an excellent person, sincere, and then you attended Notre Dame while Osiris consistently wanted to enroll at Stanford, so he eventually chose Stanford,” St. Brown remarked. “I attended the camps at Stanford alongside him and Osiris, encountered Shaw there, which allowed us to get to know him better.”

Shaw will collaborate closely with new Lions offensive coordinator John Morton, who was part of the Lions in 2022 and came back following two seasons in Denver. St. Brown is excited about the passing game strategies and possibilities with the new offensive leadership.

“He was in Denver with Johnny (Morton), and Johnny Mo was accomplishing a lot of great things while he was here in Detroit, so I’m really looking forward to it,” St. Brown expressed.
