The Dallas Mavericks’ offseason significantly slowed down this week after a flurry of moves last week that included signing Spencer Dinwiddie to a one-year deal and signing Kessler Edwards to a two-way contract, and now it’s time for the team to make some moves around the edges.

Dallas is expected to re-sign Markieff Morris, and although they don’t have any open roster spots on the 15-man roster, rumors indicate that A.J. Lawson is someone who could get cut to make room.

While Dallas doesn’t have any open spots on the 15-man roster, there are a couple of open roster spots ahead of training camp which include a two-way spot and a couple of Exhibit 10 training camp deals. One of these spots was filled on Friday.

Dallas Mavericks sign Jamarion Sharp to one-year deal

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes of TNT and Bleacher Report, the Mavs have signed Jamarion Sharp to a one-year contract. The details of the contract were not detailed at this time, but it was likely either Dallas’ final two-way spot or an Exhibit 10 deal.

Sharp played for the Mavs during the Summer League and the 7-foot-5 rookie big man made his impact felt in the paint and down low. He showed his elite defense immediately for the Mavs at Summer League, as he blocked four shots against the Utah Jazz in his Summer League debut.

Sharp was the defensive anchor for the team during his minutes, and although he didn’t look as polished offensively early, there were some flashes during Summer League of what he can do. Considering he is 7-foot-5 with a 7-foot-9 wingspan, he is able to create second chance opportunities with just his size.

Sharp’s incredible size and length make him an excellent rim protector as shown by the 3.7 blocks per game he averaged in college, and he makes things hard for anyone who tries to challenge him in the paint.
