PROVO, Utah – The Marriott Center will host a large contingent of NBA scouts on Tuesday night as BYU faces Baylor.

This Big 12 clash features two premier 2025 NBA draft prospects: BYU freshman point guard Egor Demin and Baylor freshman guard VJ Edgecombe.

NBA Scouts Flock to BYU/Baylor Matchup

Approximately 30 NBA scouts from 15 teams are expected to attend, with both the Utah Jazz and Brooklyn Nets sending multiple representatives, according to KSL Sports.

Edgecombe is widely projected as a top-five pick next June, while Demin is nearing the same range in recent mock drafts.

Demin comes into the game after standout performances in wins over Colorado and Cincinnati last week. Against Cincinnati, Demin hit three three-pointers in a dominant victory. Now, he prepares to face another elite freshman in Edgecombe in what promises to be a marquee matchup.

“It’s always interesting to play against those teams,” said Demin about Baylor and Edgecombe. “I’ve heard about them in Europe or Russia, seen them in March Madness, and now I face players headed to the draft. Every Big 12 game has good competition, as I already know.”

Demin is accustomed to performing under the watchful eyes of NBA scouts. When BYU faced Providence on the East Coast in December, scouts attended in large numbers, though Demin left early with a knee contusion. Earlier this month, BYU’s game at Houston also drew over two dozen scouts.

NBA Prospects: Demin & Edgecombe Lead the Pack

Aside from Demin and Edgecombe, other draft prospects to watch include Baylor’s Robert Wright III, Norchad Omier, and BYU’s Kanon Catchings and Richie Saunders.

“We foster an environment that helps players develop with an NBA lens on everything we do,” said BYU coach Kevin Young on Demin and Catchings. “There’s been constant scout traffic here, and I get calls daily. We’ll see how it plays out through the season, workouts, and interviews. But yes, I think they’ll make it sooner rather than later.”

BYU enters the game with a 13-6 overall record and a 4-4 mark in Big 12 play. Baylor, also 13-6, holds a slight edge in conference standings at 5-3. Both teams are riding two-game win streaks.
