Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown typically isn’t recognized for reporting news, but perhaps the “Sun God” should consider including that in his job description. He was set to be the first to announce that wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El was departing the Lions to take the role of the new passing game coordinator for the Chicago Bears.
In the most recent episode of the St. Brown Podcast, the Lions All-Pro discloses that he accidentally found out Randle El was departing for the Bears.
“I messaged the group chat, asking, ‘El, aren’t you from Chicago?’” St. Brown mentioned. “I forwarded that.” Next item. ‘Are you keeping up with Ben?’ I actually sent that at 6:17 p.m. A couple of minutes later, he calls me. ‘What the heck?’ I respond.
He remarked, ‘How’s it going, dude.’ He says, ‘Hey dude. How did you find out? ‘Was that information leaked?’ I replied, “No way, I was just joking.”
St. Brown’s reaction of surprise was authentic. Randle El was set to advance in the coaching hierarchy in Detroit, but he chose to join his hometown Bears alongside Ben Johnson instead. Number 14 holds no grudges against his longtime coach
