Maxx Crosby, the powerful defensive end for the Las Vegas Raiders, has long been a top target for Detroit Lions fans. A Michigan native from Lapeer, Crosby would be the perfect fit alongside Aidan Hutchinson in Detroit’s defensive line. His high-energy playstyle and edge make him an ideal match for the Motor City, and many have speculated about the possibility of him being traded to the Lions.

However, recent comments from Crosby about his excitement for the Raiders’ new head coach, Pete Carroll, might dampen some of those hopes. On January 29, 2025, Crosby appeared on SiriusXM’s “Let’s Go” podcast with Jim Gray and spoke about the energy and competition Carroll brings to the team. Crosby expressed admiration for Carroll’s winning mentality, saying he aligns with his own competitive nature. He emphasized his eagerness to work with Carroll and the new general manager, John Spytek, to help rebuild the Raiders.

Crosby explained that Carroll’s message to him after the press conference was clear: the team isn’t wasting time and is moving forward quickly. Crosby’s focus on winning every year matches the Raiders’ ambitious approach. His comments suggest that Crosby is fully committed to the Raiders’ future and excited about what’s to come, which could be bad news for Lions fans hoping for a potential trade.

NFL analyst Tyler Brooke of The 33rd Team has proposed that Crosby could be a good fit for the Green Bay Packers instead. In a recent article, Brooke suggested a trade package where the Raiders would receive a second-round pick in 2025 and a third-round pick in 2026 for Crosby. While Lions fans dream of Crosby playing for Detroit, it seems there may be other teams in the mix.
