An NFL analyst doubts that extending George Pickens would be the smartest move for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
George Pickens stands as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver heading into the offseason; however, with his rookie contract expiring in 2025, his future with the team remains uncertain.
Of course, Pickens will probably seek to obtain an extension after achieving 59 receptions for 900 yards and three touchdowns during 14 games this last season. Furthermore, the issue is if Pittsburgh is prepared to yield and make that leap.
Moreover, Florio doubts that Pickens will alter his behavior after securing a lucrative contract.
“If you provide him with money, will he transform?” Florio mentioned. “And when do you decide that this is simply his true nature?”
This offseason, the Steelers are seeking elite receiver talent, with enticing choices available in the NFL Draft, free agency, and trade markets. If they achieve success in their efforts, it then turns into a question of either retaining Pickens or possibly trading him to another team seeking a top-tier asset in the passing offense that’s also ready to manage his issues.
