NBA rumors: Lakers’ center targets following Anthony Davis-Luka Doncic trade

The Lakers are in need of a center after trading Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks shook up the sports world with a trade that swaps Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic. As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on what’s next for both teams, particularly for the Lakers: who will step in as their center now that Davis is no longer with the team?

The Lakers had already been looking into center options before the trade, as Davis had expressed a desire to play more as a power forward—a move that reportedly upset the team. With Davis no longer on the roster, Los Angeles now faces a clear need for a center, with Jaxson Hayes expected to start. According to Matt Moore at Hardwood Paroxysm, “everything he’s heard” points toward Robert Williams as a primary target.

However, Moore also notes that the Portland Trail Blazers are keen on keeping Williams, despite his injury concerns and the competition from Deandre Ayton and Donovan Clingan in the center rotation. If Williams isn’t available, Moore suggests Clint Capela as another solid choice. Capela has been on the trade block for some time, and Moore confirms that Los Angeles has also been in talks with the Atlanta Hawks about Bogdan Bogdanovic. Could the Lakers make a larger trade and land both Capela and Bogdanovic?
