Chelsea Set to Pursue £75m Star as Garnacho Alternative

Chelsea were preparing for a hectic final week of the January transfer window, with a midfielder, left-winger, and striker all being considered as potential signings this month.

Currently sitting sixth in the Premier League, Chelsea have only won once in their last seven games, and improvement is essential to avoid slipping out of the Champions League spots.

Enzo Maresca has successfully implemented his system, and while the team’s vision is evident on the pitch, certain additions are needed to push them to the next level.

Alejandro Garnacho had been linked with a move to Chelsea recently, but with Ruben Amorim now favoring the Argentine in his lineup, Chelsea could shift their focus to other attacking targets, either in January or by the summer.

Chelsea Pushing for Offensive Addition

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea are reportedly ready to push for Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz in the summer, with a potential £75m offer for the 19-year-old star.

Other clubs, including PSG and Manchester City, are also interested, which could complicate Chelsea’s pursuit, especially given their current lack of Champions League football.

Yildiz has made 33 appearances for Juventus this season, scoring six goals, providing five assists, and playing 2,324 minutes.

The Turkish international is versatile, capable of playing in various attacking positions, including left-wing, right-wing, attacking midfield, and even centre-forward.

How Yildiz Compares to Chelsea Target Garnacho

Although Garnacho, who is also linked with Chelsea, primarily plays on the left-wing, there are distinct differences between him and Yildiz.

Garnacho tends to hold width in the final third, drifting inside to cut onto his stronger right foot and take shots, whereas Yildiz prefers more freedom to drift, link play, and move into pockets of space to get involved in the game.

Stats (per 90 mins)

When comparing the two players’ stats this season, Garnacho appears to be a more direct winger, focusing on carrying the ball and contributing to offensive output.

In contrast, Yildiz is more of a creative playmaker, impacting the game with his passing and 1v1 take-on ability across the pitch.

Former Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri described Yildiz as “extraordinary,” a sentiment reflected in his impressive metrics despite being part of a struggling Juventus attack. A move to Chelsea could see his numbers improve even further.

While Garnacho provides a different style compared to Jadon Sancho on the left, Yildiz would offer versatility across the front line, added creativity, and the ability to create shots both for himself and others.
