The Jaguars have asked to interview Josh Williams, the 49ers’ director of scouting and football operations, for their open General Manager position, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. He just finished his 14th season with the 49ers, marking his first year in this role.
Williams worked as a national scout (2022-23), area scout (2017-21), and national football scouting representative (2016). He began his career with the 49ers in 2011 as a scouting assistant and progressed from there.
The Jaguars have also sought Rams director of scouting strategy James Gladstone, Chargers assistant General Manager Chad Alexander, Bengals senior personnel executive Trey Brown, Bears assistant General Manager Ian Cunningham, and Giants assistant G.M. Brandon Brown. Bucs assistant G.M. Mike Greenberg turned down a request for an interview.
The Jaguars are looking to find a replacement for General Manager Trent Baalke, who was let go on Jan. 22.
