Rio Ferdinand has encouraged Ruben Amorim to re-sign Paul Pogba for Manchester United so he can train while his football suspension is in effect.

The 31-year-old has been inactive since the 2022/23 season, which ended prematurely due to an injury prior to a four-year ban from the sport imposed following a failed drug test. After declaring his innocence, the ex-Man United midfielder had his sentence lowered to 18 months.

That term will conclude next month, and since the start of the year, the Frenchman has been training in readiness. Ferdinand thinks Amorim can provide a position in his team for now.

I would tell Pogba, ‘Join us for training, and show me what you can do’. I would do that. I would have completed that by now. “Step inside and get in shape,” the ex-defender stated through his personal YouTube channel.

Pogba can train as much as he wants, but the reality is that he is currently without a club to join after departing from Old Trafford in 2022, and Juventus released him once they discovered his ban. After a calm transfer deadline day, Ferdinand implied that the midfielder practicing with his old team might encourage Amorim to propose a comeback.

“I would also consider it [if he can be re-signed],” he mentioned.

As a free agent, the player can move outside of transfer windows, the most recent one closing on Monday night. Currently, Pogba has not agreed to any proposals for a comeback in football. He has suggested himself that he wants to go back to the highest attainable level in Europe.

There are suggestions, some of which are intriguing and others less so. Russia and similar entities, there were suggestions, but that is not the ‘objective’.

“We possess additional objectives.” A team competing in the Champions League? Why not indeed? If it arrives, naturally, why not? We constantly aspire to be part of the finest clubs. “Following that, it isn’t up to me; it relies on numerous other factors.”

Recently, he has seemed to flirt with David Beckham, the owner of MLS team Inter Miami, about joining the MLS club.
