The offseason of the National Football League has arrived.
It was an enjoyable season, but it has concluded after the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. While free agency and the new NFL calendar won’t officially begin until March, it doesn’t imply that there will be silence throughout the league.
On Sunday, it was announced that the Jets will be parting ways with Aaron Rodgers this offseason. There were also reports that the team might lose Davante Adams as well. Evidently, there will be numerous changes in New York.
New York has several players entering free agency, among them star cornerback DJ Reed. The 28-year-old previously signed a three-year, $33 million contract with the Jets and is now likely the top cornerback available in free agency.
Now that the season is over, Nick Brinkerhoff from USA Today compiled a list of forecasts for the leading free agents entering the open market. Reed anticipated that the 28-year-old would join the Detroit Lions.
“Forecast: Detroit Lions,” Brinkerhoff stated. “Reed has been in Sauce Gardner’s shadow the past few seasons, yet the cornerback was a standout for the Jets during his tenure.” After a frustrating season, he is prepared to move forward, Reed informed Tyler Dunne of Go Long. As the Jets look to establish a fresh culture under head coach Aaron Glenn, he is virtually assured of wearing a different jersey next season.
The cornerback might end up with Glenn’s previous team, which will be seeking secondary assistance this offseason. Injuries disrupted the team at the season’s conclusion, allowing Reed to team up with Terrion Arnold. Carlton Davis enjoyed an excellent season in Detroit, but he might depart with Glenn heading out.
