It’s well known that Detroit Lions supporters would be thrilled to have Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby join their team, and even though Crosby frequently expresses his desire to remain in Vegas, that dream never appears to diminish. Detroit Lions fans now have an additional reason to feel optimistic and trust that the notion of Crosby arriving in the Motor City isn’t completely unrealistic.
Crosby is again the subject of discussion regarding a potential trade target, suggesting that his situation in Vegas might be more uncertain than anticipated.
Raiders Might ‘Accelerate’ Rebuilding Process By Dealing Maxx Crosby
NFL analysts and experts Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport released a feature on February 9, where they talk about pass rushers facing a “potentially wild 2025 offseason.” In it, they identify Crosby as one of those individuals.
Certainly, they point out that Crosby has established a reputation as a “Raider for life,” yet there are still several reasons he might be traded. Firstly, they note that the star player has been “transparent about his dissatisfaction with the team’s apparent continuous changes and increasing defeats. Crosby aims to succeed and play a significant role in the achievement.
Pelissero and Rapoport note that although the team has a new head coach in Pete Carroll, which may provide some “stability,” the Raiders still lack a franchise quarterback and must significantly restructure their roster.
“Dealing Crosby for a haul of draft selections could accelerate that process,” they noted, “and Crosby might embrace the shift, especially if it’s to a contender where he has connections (e.g. Green Bay).”
Regrettably, they identify Green Bay as a preferred destination for Crosby. However, if he’s available, Brad Holmes will probably want to bring this Michigan player onto the Lions’ team.
Crosby has approximately two years left on the contract extension he signed in 2022, totaling around $44 million. Naturally, he is a Michigan native and a graduate of Eastern Michigan, making it even more delightful to bring him to Detroit.
Crosby Mentioned as Potential Trade Candidate for Detroit Lions
Pelissero and Rapoport aren’t the only individuals who think Crosby might be available. In a feature for SideLion Report on February 11, Brad Berreman also identified Crosby as a trade target for the Lions as an edge rusher.
In the article, Berreman states that “the expense to acquire Crosby would be significant” and mentions that Crosby’s contract has two years remaining.” However, he notes that “if Crosby were to request a trade from the Raiders, it seems they would be much more open to it compared to how the Browns have handled (edge rusher Myles) Garrett so far.”
Additionally, Crosby’s frequent public praise of sports is generating discussions about potential trades. On February 9, after the Detroit Pistons defeated the Hornets, Crosby went on X to express that it’s “awesome” to witness the Pistons “ballin’ again” and that it has been far too long. He understands how great it is to bring some of that Bad Boys era back to Detroit.
