Fans upset with LeBron James over his All-Star Game announcement.

Fans angered by LeBron James’ decision to miss the All-Star Game.

LeBron James upset fans with his choice to skip Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game due to injury.

The Los Angeles Lakers forward announced his absence just hours before the game began at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. His statement can be found here.

LeBron missing the game was a significant event, considering it was the first time since 2004 that he hadn’t participated in an All-Star game. However, many fans were frustrated by the timing of the announcement, feeling it denied the NBA the opportunity to replace him with one of the many players left off the roster.

Trae Young and Kyrie Irving were selected as injury replacements for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis. Former All-Stars like Devin Booker, LaMelo Ball, Tyrese Maxey, and Domantas Sabonis were among those who narrowly missed the cut.

Veteran Norman Powell of the Los Angeles Clippers was another notable snub who could have earned his first All-Star selection.

Adding to the frustration, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards also decided to sit out due to injury. While Edwards may have missed the game regardless, LeBron’s last-minute withdrawal likely influenced the decision.

LeBron’s absence, along with other factors, led many fans to label Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game as the worst in its history.
