The New York Jets will probably need to bring in one or two playmakers for the offense this offseason.

New York has officially announced that it is parting ways with Aaron Rodgers. It seems he won’t be the only player the Jets will sever ties with this offseason. ESPN’s Rich Cimini indicated that the Jets may “likely” part ways with Davante Adams and Allen Lazard as well. Should this happen, the Jets will definitely need to incorporate a receiver into the lineup.

Cimini additionally mentioned that Detroit Lions wideout Tim Patrick will be a “free agent to monitor” for New York.

“Cimini stated that the Jets would struggle at receiver without Adams and Lazard.” “Garrett Wilson, Xavier Gipson, and Malachi Corley would then be the leading receivers on the depth chart.” The role will be a top priority during both free agency and the draft.

“One free agent to keep an eye on is Tim Patrick of the Detroit Lions — a clear link to coach Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand.”

Patrick secured a one-year contract worth $1.295 million with the Lions in 2024. In 2024, he recorded 33 receptions along with 394 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Patrick is expected to secure a $1.69 million contract this offseason, which would likely be manageable for the Jets.

The Jets will need to bring in additional help for the receiving corps, and Aaron Glenn has a link to Patrick since they both were with the Lions. Perhaps this agreement could be logical.
