Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett’s formal trade request has become a major topic in the NFL world leading up to the Super Bowl.
The Detroit Lions seem like a natural destination for the talented EDGE rusher, as their defensive line continues to look for a consistent pass rusher alongside Aidan Hutchinson.
A photo showing Hutchinson and Jared Goff talking to Garrett at the NFL Honors awards in New Orleans has gone viral.
Lions fans are excited and hopeful that the two team captains were attempting to recruit the 29-year-old to Detroit.
Garrett made it clear this week that his trade request isn’t driven by personal achievements or accolades. The Browns defensive lineman wants to be part of a contending team before his distinguished career ends.
“It’s never been about the Hall of Fame for me,” Garrett told Rich Eisen this week. “It’s not about money or records. You’re remembered for winning and bringing a championship to your city, wherever that may be. That’s how you’re remembered by your community, teammates, and friends. We play to make an impact.”
Asked by the Free Press on the NFL Honors red carpet if the Lions were interested in Garrett, Hutchinson responded, “Everyone’s asking me about that. I don’t know. You can’t have that many guys on one D-line, I don’t know. Who knows, but I think it’s very unlikely?”
