Top 3 Stars For Lakers to Pair Alongside Luka Doncic After LeBron James.

Top 3 Players for Lakers to Pair with Luka Doncic After LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers find themselves in a unique situation in the NBA. The team is still focused on winning a championship, but the age gap between their two superstars is substantial.

LeBron James, at 40 years old, is much older than Luka Doncic, who is just 25. James has spoken about retiring in recent offseasons, signaling that his career in the NBA is nearing its end.

This forces the Lakers to look ahead while trying to stay competitive in the present. But when James eventually retires, who might step up as Doncic’s partner?

Here are three potential candidates the Lakers could pursue.

1. Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets

While it may seem unlikely given Jokic’s probable intent to stay with the Nuggets for his entire career, stranger moves have happened. Jokic and Doncic have expressed their desire to play together before, and Los Angeles could be the ideal place for that partnership.

By the time Jokic’s contract ends, he will be 32, but he would likely still be at a high level of performance. The two-time MVP could usher in a new era for the Lakers, competing for titles alongside Doncic.

2. Jaren Jackson Jr., Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies face a critical decision regarding Jackson Jr. this offseason. If they choose not to extend his contract, his future in Memphis could be uncertain. Jackson Jr. could be a great fit next to Doncic, giving the Lakers a star big man.

He’s capable of stretching the floor and offers exceptional defense in the paint. With his contract expiring after next season, if Memphis doesn’t reach an agreement, Jackson Jr. could explore a trade.

The Lakers could try to acquire him through trade or wait until he hits free agency.

3. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks

Antetokounmpo is likely the Lakers’ top target to replace LeBron James, and it makes perfect sense. The Bucks’ superstar would complement Doncic perfectly, forming a dynamic duo in Los Angeles.

Giannis would add elite defense and unmatched athleticism to the Lakers, combining well with Doncic’s scoring prowess. With two years left on his contract, Antetokounmpo could seek a new team, especially with Milwaukee’s aging roster.

The prospect of a Doncic-Antetokounmpo pairing could become one of the best duos in NBA history, making this move a real possibility in the coming years.
