Monday Headlines: Kentucky in the New College Basketball Rankings
Another week, another two-game split.
NCAA Basketball: Auburn at Kentucky
Kentucky basketball saw a drop in every ranking after splitting their games against Oklahoma and Auburn, coupled with the loss of Jaxson Robinson.
In the AP Top 25 Poll, the Wildcats are now at No. 19, while their upcoming Saturday opponent, the Missouri Tigers, hold the 15th spot.
The Coaches Poll ranks Kentucky 24th, with Mizzou at 19th.
KenPom places Kentucky at 18, LSU at 78, and Missouri at 12.
EvanMiya has Kentucky slipping to No. 30, LSU at 78, and Missouri at 21.
BartTorvik ranks Kentucky 23rd, LSU at 75, and Missouri at 8.
The CBS Sports Top 25 And 1 has Kentucky at 22 and Missouri at 17.
NET places the Wildcats at 15, LSU at 84, and Missouri at 13.
As for the Kentucky women’s team, they’re ranked 12th in the AP Poll, 19th in NET, and 13th in BartTorvik as SEC Tournament play begins for them on Friday.
It was another week where the Kentucky Wildcats split their SEC games.
The Wildcats traveled to Norman on Wednesday and secured a narrow 83-82 win over the Oklahoma Sooners. However, on Saturday, they suffered a disappointing loss to the top-ranked Auburn Tigers at home, 94-78.
Kentucky committed 18 turnovers and shot just 4-17 from beyond the arc in that defeat.
Currently, Kentucky stands at 19-10 on the season with an 8-8 conference record.
Last week, Kentucky was ranked 17th in the AP Poll and 23rd in the Coaches Poll. After the split, it wouldn’t be surprising if Kentucky dropped a few spots in both rankings, or even possibly fell out of the Coaches Poll Top 25.
Kentucky is ranked higher in the NET, coming in at 15th, while KenPom has them at 18th.
