The Florida Gators made a statement in Jon Sumrall’s first game as head coach, cruising past Florida Atlantic 66–21 in front of a sold-out crowd at The Swamp.
But despite the huge victory, Sumrall knows there is still work to do.
Florida’s offense produced 624 yards, while quarterback Aaron Philo threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Jadan Baugh also delivered a huge performance with 160 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
The biggest concern came on defense.
FAU managed to produce 396 total yards, and Sumrall was openly critical of some of Florida’s defensive execution after the game. He made it clear that the Gators cannot afford to believe they have already arrived.
